Throughout the weekend we will learn elegant neo combinations, creative sacadas, playful soltadas, original volcadas and colgadas, stylish footwork, embellishments and other beautiful modern tango elements. We will focus not only on learning eye-catching movements, but also on how to dance them with comfort, connection, musicality and flow.

Whether you love fluid movement, playful interaction, modern tango vocabulary or simply want to enrich your dance with new possibilities, this weekend will give you plenty of inspiration and practical tools to bring more beauty, creativity and expression to your Neotango.

Ezequiel Sanucci
Director, teacher & DJ

Ezequiel, born in Buenos Aires, is a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer with over 40 years of experience in ballet, contemporary dance and tango. A pioneer of Neotango, he developed his unique style. He is also one of the early innovators of Contact Tango and Contemporary Tango. Since 2008, Ezequiel has been teaching, performing and DJing at international festivals across Europe and Argentina. He teaches regular tango and neotango classes in Amsterdam and Arnhem, and since 2018 co-organizes The Neotango Weekend at De Uelenspieghel.

 

Gabriela Pereira
Guest Co-teacher

Gabriela is a teacher and dancer from Argentina with international stage experience. She has worked with recognized tango maestros and develops her own dance pieces. She has studied and worked in the field of contemporary dance, ballet, tango, folklore. She studied at dance schools in Argentina, Belgium, France. Then she expanded her professional spectrum as a dancer in international companies and by assisting the artistic direction in various projects in the fields of dance, tango, film, circus, physical theater, folklore, and children’s dance. She has toured extensively as a performer across Europe and internationally.

Next Theme: Playful Neotango Moves

 
A very important aspect of neotango and tango in general is the possibility of playing. It is being able to make movements, lead or steps that are original, surprising, fun from a visual and/or musical point of view. These also generate connection, motivation and positive emotions between the dance couple. In neotango this possibility is deeply rooted since it is like a playground where we can have fun and experiment. Of course it is important to do these movements with quality, connection, musicality, taking care of the dance line and the space with the other dancers on the dance floor. During the weekend Ezequiel & Gabriëlle will teach different possibilities of how to play more with neotango in an elegant and musical way.
At the Neotango Weekend you have every day workshops with Ezequiel & Marleen, every evening neo milongas with the international DJ Eze, every afternoon neotango practicas, delicious food and you also have free time to walk in the forest or to go to the lake.

Gabriëlle & Ezequiel teach classes and intensive workshops at TangoTalks. They also teach and perform together at events. They have great understanding during their classes and they work very well together.
Gabriëlle is founder and director of TangoTalks that is the only tango school in Amsterdam where you can also learn neotango. She has many years of teaching experience and trained hundreds of students. She finds quality and technique very important and gives clear feedback to help both leaders and followers improve. Playful neotango is theme that she enjoys a lot and she is very happy to teach it at De Uelenphigel.

Ezequiel is a Neotango specialists and he created his own dance style. He studied Argentine tango in Buenos Aires, performed at major festivals, theaters, milongas, events, embassies in Europe and Latin America and in many cases together with well-known orchestras. About the location: 

The Uelenspieghel lies in the middle of nature in a quiet area where you can walk in a beautiful environment with woods, heath and fens. It is very common to hear an owl, see a deer cross your path or see the squirrels jumping above you through the trees.

This old-Saxon farmhouse in Drenthe is the perfect location for tango weekends. The farm has a large hall, a dining room, a group kitchen, a small hall, amphitheater and a studio. A whiteboard, music equipment and a beamer are present. On the grounds of De Uelenspieghel there is a large terrace and a fire pit.

The bedrooms are located in the farmhouse and there are three wooden chalets on the site. There is enough space to camp with your caravan, camper or tent. Electricity and Wi-Fi are available.

How to get there with Public Transport

Train to Meppel
Go first to Meppel train station. Then you can choose a taxi or bus to get there.

By Taxi:
– Regiotaxi Telnr HUBtaxi is 08008294225 (reserve an hour in advance!)
– From Meppel NS station to Winkelsteeg 5 in Uffelte:
– TELNR: 08008294225 (CHECK! This is the number for the HUB) for the low rate: Clearly state that you are taking the HUB and reserve at least 1 hour in advance!
– Costs: €3.70 per person. If you are with more than 2 people, please let us know.

By bus
* train to Meppel and from the station bus 28 Qbuzz (direction Smilde/Assen) to Uffelte
* get off 1 stop after highway restaurant Frederikshaven, the stop “Weg Achter de Es”
* walk from the canal into the Weg Achter de Es
* after approx. 500 meters take a wide dirt road to the right, this is the Winkelsteeg
* after 200 meters on the dirt road is De Uelenspieghel on the right
